Maldives – Chikungunya

Local authorities are reporting  more than 300  cases of chikungunya fever per month throughout the Maldives, significantly more than usual with the outbreak yet to peak. A mosquito borne disease for which there is no vaccine available, symptoms include fever, muscle pain, headache and severe joint pain that is often debilitating. Travelers should observe daytime insect precautions.
